Sephora X Guerlain: First Impressions!

Hello girls! Finally after ages – after my entire busy schedule I finally found time to sit and write again.  Recently, I received an email from SEPHORA Philippines and they wanted me to do collaboration with them. As you all know I am a fan of Sephora and of course I said Yes!

I got a package from them last week and I was able to try it already (since I am extremely excited to try them too) and I just want to share with you all my first impressions for each product that I got. I got a package full of Guerlain makeup products and to be honest this is the first time that I’m going to try the brand.  If you guys didn’t know anything about the brand, Guerlain (Ger-Lan) is a French cosmetics and skincare house and it is now acquired by the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE - a French multinational investment corporation specializing in luxury brands. Guerlain is one of the most famous luxury brands in the market and the price point of their products are quiet expensive but you will surely get what you pay for.

Inside my package I got 2 Guerlain Rouge G De Guerlain - Exceptional Complete Lip Colour in the shade 77 Geraldine and 62 Georgia. I also got Guerlain Meteorites Base Perfecting Pearls and Guerlain Meteorites Compact in the shade medium. And I also picked their Multi-Perfecting - Hydrating Blurring Effect Concealer in the shade 01 Clair Dore/ Light Warm. I wasn’t able to get the Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Foundation because my shade is out of stock. By the way, I personally choose all of these products as they let me pick what I wanted to try or something I am really interested to try from the brand.

Aside from all of these gorgeous products I also got a gift from Guerlain which is this beautiful makeup pouch. (Thank you Sephora and Guerlain!)

Now lets take a closer look on each product.

The Meteorites line is a cult classic of the brand that is why I choose 2 from this line – the Meteorites Compact and the Meteorites Base Perfecting Pearls. Based on their website The meteorites line has a stardust technology a light-creating polymer, which transforms light invisible to the naked eye into a pure and endless glow on the skin. So it is all about glow with this line.

Guerlain Meteorites Compact Light –Revealing Powder is housed in a beautiful silver-toned plastic compact with the daisy design on the lid. This has 10g of product in it and the packaging is very well made. It also comes with a velvet pouch which makes it more luxurious. The product is heavily scented with Violet perfume so it may be an issue to some who has sensitive nose but for me I don’t really mind it at all.

I use this product as a finishing powder right after I set my foundation with a normal setting powder. Because this product is created to give you glow, it is not the glow that we all see on those “Instagram Makeup” those "highlights on fleeeeekk." The glow that this powder give is so subtle that it blends in seamlessly on the skin. I actually like and prefer that as it looks more natural and beautiful in person. The texture of this powder is so soft, finely-milled and it goes on smoothly on the skin as you apply.  This is actually perfect for those “Bridal glow” or just something more natural.

Meteorites Base Perfecting Pearls – I am so amazed on how they deliver when it comes to the packaging of their product. This is not the usual makeup base you see in the market and that makes me realize why you gotta spend a premium for it. Based on their website this base is “a skin-perfecting and anti-dullness make-up base. It gives the skin a plumpy finish while a combination of absorbent powders and a special polymer neutralizes excess sebum and helps to conceal blemishes for a long-lasting matt complexion that gradually becomes more even with each application.”

I was thinking of my favorite Becca Backlight Priming Filter when I tried this product but no they are not the same. This Guerlain Perfecting Meteorites base will not really give you the “glow” because once you start rubbing it to your skin as it dries completely it is starting to become matt but not overly matt as a mattifying primer. It feels satin-ish to my skin and I can still see multi-coloured pearlescent flecks once it is already dry. I actually like this product because it doesn’t feel greasy or drying  to my combination skin. I will do an in-depth review about this product on how it affects the longevity of my makeup and if it’s really a must have. The scent of this product is the same with the meteorites compact I have.

BLENDED

Multi-Perfecting Hydrating Blurring Effect Concealer – It is in a squeeze tube packaging that has 12ML of product in it. The Claire Dore/Light Warm shade is a little too light for my skin (NC20 from MAC as preference) so I use this as a highlighting concealer instead. This product is heavily scented as well. It is stated on their website that this concealer has a distinctive and delicate floral scent.

It has a thick consistency and I can say that it has a full coverage as it completely covers my dark under-eye circles. Although this product tends to crease on me (even if I use a little amount of it) , I still like the coverage and how easy it blends using a damp beauty sponge.

BLENDED

Rouge – Exceptional Lip Colour – To be honest I choose this because of the packaging and I think this is the most expensive line in their lipstick collection. I can’t stress enough how luxurious the packaging of these lipsticks are! They feel and look luxury!

I love that it has a mirror and it’s just the perfect size for lip-touch ups. The original shades I picked first was Galiane and Garconne but both of them was out of stock so I opted for Georgia and Geraldine. I noticed that all the lipstick shade names for this line starts with letter “G”.

The shade 62 Georgia is a warm muted pink while the shade 77 Geraldine is a medium pink with a slight bluish undertone. Both of them has a slight glossy finish but has opaque color coverage. The color applied smoothly and evenly in just a swipe. After a couple of hours in my lips, these lip-colors has a great staining power that can last all throughout the day.

If you are into luxury brands of makeup, I definitely suggest trying Guerlain as they offer reality good products. My faves are the lipsticks and the Meteorites compact! Have you tried them too? What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comment section.

REVIEW: MaryKay Timewise Liquid Foundation and Concealer

Hi girls! It’s good to be back writing again for all of you. Today’s review is about my MARYKAY TIMEWISE LIQUID MATTE FOUNDATION and MARY KAY CONCEALER. I got these babies 2 months ago and I’ve been using them for about a month now and I’m ready to give my opinion about these gorgeous products. I got them from Eloisa Co of  Kikaysimaria_store.

MARYKAY is one of the best direct-selling brands available in the market. The brand was founded at Dallas, Texas, U.S.A and has now over 3.5 million beauty consultants all over the world catering to over 4 billion Marykay users. Another fact about this company is they spend millions of money just to conduct tests to ensure that Mary Kay product meet the highest standards of quality, safety and performance. So no need to be afraid about this product because we know we are in a great hand

To be honest I’m not a fan of any direct-selling brand when it comes to makeup. Maybe because I don’t see the brand in the mainstream, I don’t think that they put effort making their products (because they don’t even put effort to their marketing), plus the most important part - it’s hard choosing your shade in a catalog because most of them don’t have testers for you to see and for you to try.  But everything changed when I use the Marykay timewise foundation and concealer this is no joke but the product blew me off .

Did you know that MaryKay is known for their skincare line? I think the reason behind the marketing strategy of being a direct-selling brand is because the brand doesn’t like to spend money on their marketing but instead of spending money doing tests for their product enhancements which is a brilliant move because not every brand in the mainstream market are all good. Yes they may have a great marketing tool but the product is a total flop. ehhhhhh? Well, not with Marykay.

The Timewise line is one the best selling skincare range from the MaryKay. The foundation is definitely water based that is why it’s suggested for oily to combination skin. It is formulated with Vitamin E and a small amount of peptide to make the skin firmer, younger and healthier. It is stated that the foundation has a matte finish however I don’t really see that it is a complete flat matte it is more of a satin finish – it is not dewy it is not matte it’s more of in between.

I got the shade Ivory 5. – because I got these goodies during summer time, my skin is a bit tanned with all the beach trips so definitely Ivory 5 is not gonna work for me. That is why I had to wait for a month to let my skin peel and get my natural skin color before I tried the foundation. Ivory 5 has pretty much yellow / warm undertone which I love. It is the same shade with MAC NC15 (I’m NC20) - a tad bit lighter for me but it does oxidize a little so it matches my skin after a while.

Packaging is cute as it comes with a pink squeeze tube. It has 29ml of product and it has buildable coverage, it’s actually full coverage in my opinion. The foundation has a very light weight feel to it because it is water based and it is easy to blend out. The foundation can last pretty long without transferring or smudging – it actually depends on how you prep your skin and how you set the foundation.

Moving to MaryKay Concealer in beige 2 – I use this product to conceal my dark circles and to brighten up my eye area however I don’t use it to conceal and hide blemishes because it doesn’t match my skin colour. The shade is perfect for my skintone as a highlighting concealer. It has extremely yellow tone which is good under the eyes.

MaryKay claims that this concealer is waterproof and good for all skin types specially sensitive skin including delicate skin around the eye area. It has a thick creamy formula and it is very pigmented and can cover easily dark circles. This concealer is a recent favorite of mine because it doesn’t crease and it is lightweight considering that it is thick formula. I love the squeeze tube packaging for sanitary purposes and the size is travel friendly.

Let me show you guys some swatches.

You can see how yellow they are!

Trying to blend the product a little.

Both products work amazing in my experience. They are both fragrance free if you have issues with scented makeups this is for you. I would like to thank Eloisa for letting me try MaryKay products if you guys are interested to try them out please do check out Kikaysimaria_store on instagram to know more about these products. What's In My Beach Makeup Bag? (summer 2016)

Makeup Pouch from @robincaseyph at instagram

Hey girls! I just want to share all the makeup stuff I have with me during my summer vacay. I know it’s a bit too late for this since we are now approaching rainy season but I just wanted to share it to you especially to those who’s still planning their “huling hirit sa tag-init”. To some of you who think it’s inappropriate to wear makeup or not necessary when you’re going to swim, uhm you might wanna close this blog and hit the “X” button up there cause obviously this is not for you.

Okay, so if you don’t know I love summer, I love going out in trips especially long rides - super loooooooong rides, and I love camping or any outdoor activities. My family and I enjoyed camping out - it may not show on my social media accounts or even in my personality but we do love camping actually I do. We love staying in a tent rather than staying in a luxury 5 star hotel, I don’t know but we just prefer putting up our own tent and fix our own sheets rather than staying in those cosy beds maybe because we are much closer to nature with camping and we can have some drinks and enjoy the rest of the night at the shore of the beach. T’was fun!

During this kind of trips the makeup I bring along is stripped down to the basics more of my everyday makeup routine but less options you know what I mean. I don’t bring 5 shades of lipsticks, 3 shades of concealers and foundations, eyeshadow palettes and such but it is more of the things I use on a daily basis and mostly my favourite products.

So everything fits in this little pouch that I got from my student Robin of @robincaseyph at instagram. I love the size - not so big but no so tiny it’s actually a decent size to be a makeup bag that’s why I use it for my makeups and I love the print (very me lol!) they actually got different styles to choose from so check them out!

Let's get into my makeups.

 Quick FX No-Shine Mattifier

I have combination skin so this is a must have in my makeup purse. My fave budget friendly primer that really works! I love bringing this during trips because it is not bulky and it fits perfectly in my makeup pouch.

Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer in light warm

This is my current favourite concealer so I always have this in my makeup bag. I use this as a highlighting concealer since it is too light for concealing my spots. Love this under my eye but be sure to set it quickly!

Revlon Dramatic Definition mascara

Another new fave of mine! Got this from my Watsons family last SM beauty makeover project. Since I'm not using any eyeshadow atleast give some definition to your eyes by using a good mascara -must be waterproof of course. Not sure if this is really waterproof - I use this the last time at the beach and it doesn't smudge on me . So I think it is?

Revlon balm stain in Romantic

I love lipbalms so this is not a surprise that I have one. I always have a lipblam in my purse to keep my lips hydrated. Love that this one has a little tint!

Becca shimmering skin perfector pressed in Opal

We need some glow on the beach girl! A little glow with Becca opal won’t hurt.

Nars Laguna Bronzer

Nothing beats this bronzer for me so to make sure my bronzer is on fleek I always bring this one with me. I also use this to contour my chest a little bit. (because mama got no cleavage. Lol!)

Mary Kay Concealer in Beige 2

Again, this is a new fave! I loveeeeeee the coverage and the shade is perfect for my skin tone. I'll do a separate review about my new Mary Kay makeup products.

Anastasia Beverly Hills brow duo in Medium Brown

We know it completes the whole look. Just fill them in naturally and avoid drawn looking brows.

Lip and cheek tint from SkinLab Naturals

Because we love those natural looking lips and cheek right?

Hourglass ambient blush in Diffused Heat

Just in case I need some blush you know. Hourglass in diffused heat has a little beach-y feel. (because of its coral shade)

MAC studio fix powder in nc20

To set my foundation and to make me look fresh all the time. Yasssssss girl!

Mary Kay Timewise matte –wear liquid foundation in Ivory

I brought this because it’s matte finish and the packaging is small and light which is perfect for travel. Currently loving it because of the great coverage.

So there you go those are the makeups I bring along with me during my last summer vacay. I'd love to hear what you guys bring to the beach, or if you think I'm missing anything! Let me know in the comments below! Thanks for dropping by hope you had a very wonderful summer! See you all very soon!

Sharing some of our summer photos!

With Love,
Anne
